The competition has been divided into two categories: Lakas, which features bands catering to hard rock enthusiasts, and Aklas, which showcases artists in the alternative rock genre. Among the competing bands in the Lakas category are Signals and Sirens from San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, Luminus from Caloocan City, Nobody’s Burden from Tanay, Rizal, Grab7 from Agusan del Norte, Daks Not Dead from Cavite, and Eidolon from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

The Pambansang Muziklaban Grand Finals will not only feature the competing bands but also performances from established local acts such as Wilabaliw, Chicosci, Greyhoundz, Razorback, Dilaw, and previous champions Happy Three Friends and Mayonnaise. Mayonnaise will also be mentoring the competing bands, sharing the stage with them during the event.
