Ayala Malls Cinemas is bringing back two classic Filipino films, “T-Bird at Ako” and “Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay,” for a limited theatrical re-release in celebration of Pride month this June. The restored versions of these movies will be shown in selected Ayala Malls branches as part of the “A-Rewind” series, a collaboration with the ABS-CBN Film Archives and Restoration project.
For just P180 per ticket (P160 for students), moviegoers can catch these iconic films at The 30th, Cloverleaf, Fairview Terraces, MarQuee Mall, and Market! Market! branches of Ayala Malls Cinemas. This initiative aims to give audiences a chance to experience these classic movies on the big screen once again.
Directed by Danny L. Zialcita, “T-Bird at Ako” was originally released in 1982 and stars the late National Artist Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos. The story follows a lawyer and her client who must navigate a complicated professional relationship after the client accidentally kills a man in self-defense following a rape attempt.
On the other hand, “Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay” is a 1987 sequel to the 1969 film “Facifica Falayfay,” both of which feature the legendary Dolphy. In this installment, the death of the titular character’s wife has a profound impact on one of his sons, portrayed by Roderick Paulate.
These screenings are part of Ayala Malls Cinemas’ ongoing efforts to showcase classic Filipino cinema and provide audiences with an opportunity to revisit these timeless stories. Previous entries in the “A-Rewind” series have included beloved titles like “Kailan Ka Magiging Akin,” “Tatlong Ina, Isang Anak,” “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos,” “Hiling,” and “Magic Temple.”
This re-release of “T-Bird at Ako” and “Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay” comes at a time when Filipino cinema is gaining recognition both locally and internationally. By bringing back these iconic films, Ayala Malls Cinemas is not only celebrating Pride month but also paying tribute to the rich history of Philippine cinema and the talented artists who have contributed to its legacy.
In addition to these re-releases, Ayala Malls Cinemas has also announced plans to screen more classic Filipino films in the coming months as part of their commitment to preserving and promoting the country’s cinematic heritage. Movie enthusiasts can look forward to more opportunities to experience these timeless classics on the big screen in the future.
As audiences flock to theaters to relive the magic of “T-Bird at Ako” and “Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay,” it is clear that the appeal of these classic Filipino films endures through the years.
